Why Is City Councilman Jimmy Peluso Endorsing Marxist DSA Angie Nixon?

Marxist Angie Nixon is a card-carrying DSA member who joined during her Senate primary, then spent the general election insisting she’s “not a socialist,” just a small-business capitalist who likes making money and happens to agree with the group on housing and healthcare.

Simply not true! Angie Nixon is a DSA Marxist.

Meanwhile, she campaigns in churches quoting Assata Shakur—convicted of murdering a New Jersey state trooper, Black Liberation Army member, and longtime Cuban asylum recipient—calling her a “famous freedom fighter” and repeatedly invoking the line “we have nothing to lose but our chains.”

That phrasing is a direct nod to the close of “The Communist Manifesto.”

She also keeps Shakur and Angela Davis portraits up in her Jacksonville “Cafe Resistance” and defends them as necessary “history.”

Jimmy Peluso—Jacksonville City Council District 7, Democrat, Navy veteran (currently a Commander in the Reserves)—is listed as an endorser on Marxist DSA Angie Nixon’s campaign site.

How is the endorsement possible?

Peluso is a Democrat in a Democratic seat endorsing the Democratic nominee. Not good enough!

The optics are still jarring: a naval officer publicly backing a Marxist DSA member who elevates a convicted cop-killer tied to revolutionary leftist rhetoric, while that same candidate spends airtime denying the socialist label she voluntarily accepted.

In a state full of people who fled actual Marxist-Leninist regimes, it is a deliberate choice, not an accident.

Voters can weigh whether “local Democrat endorses local Democrat” is enough of an explanation.

Hopefully, this will put an end to both of their political careers once and for all.
